Switch Adapted Let’s Imagine Elmo
Switch adapted special needs toy.
Let’s Imagine Elmo is a learning toy that requires a partner for play. This is a great toy for teaching turn taking, cause and effect and following instructions. Let’s Imagine Elmo is a lot of fun but he is not an independent play toy; he requires partner participation. Your child may need help with squeezing his nose, bouncing him and changing his hats.
Let’s Imagine Elmo has 4 interactive play modes; each with it’s own activities, songs, games, sayings and/or giggles, depending on the hat he’s wearing. Elmo will give you a set of instructions to follow; including squeezing his nose, bouncing him or tickling/squeezing his tummy. The switch is used to activate Elmo every time he requests his tummy be squeezed or tickled. The nose feature and bouncing feature are not adapted. Your child may need help with these features to successfully follow Elmo’s instructions.
Elmo has a hard, flat bottom so he can sit on a table or wheelchair tray. Pull back the fur on his bottom and Velcro can be attached to secure him firmly to a flat surface.
My daughter loves silly sounds. One of her favourite play modes is the no hat mode. Pressing the switch makes Elmo giggle in this mode. No play partner needed in this mode. Elmo giggles, she giggles……and repeat!
Note: The switch only activates Elmo’s tummy feature. Every time Elmo says to squeeze or tickle his tummy, a switch is pressed instead of his tummy. This toy requires a partner for play.
